| Timothy and Janepher Kakooza live in Katosi, Uganda
with their four children. They have dedicated their lives to
saving their village. In 1995, they started an orphanage with 38
children. Today, they are educating 456 boys and girls, most of
whom are orphaned. They planted a
powerful evangelical church in the heart of town which has a regular
Sunday attendance of 220 adults. Robert Stewart,
Director of Commission of Ministries (located in Elizabeth, Indiana) was
in Amsterdam teaching at a Billy Graham Conference when he met Timothy
Kakooza. Timothy was very persistent in inviting Bob to Katosi to teach the young pastors in his village
and the
surrounding areas. Eventually, Robert went and the partnership
began.
Through this partnership, and the private donations
given to Commission Ministries, a four-room school (Eli's House) and a medical
clinic (Covenant Clinic) have been built to help care for the people of Katosi.
In the fall of 2004, the Covenant class of Christ
Church United Methodist (Louisville, Kentucky) collected funds to build the 12-room
medical complex. This building was completed and dedicated in the
summer of 2006 and is currently in operation.
